Creative Advertising Solutions
Rich media advertising includes enhanced graphics, audio or video and often allows the visitor to interact with the ad without having to leave the page on which it appears.
Catfish Ad:
A catfish ad appears (sliding in or fading in) as a horizontal area at the bottom of a page. Imagine a fish comes up to the water surface for air. The catfish is highly visible, without being obtrusive.
Expandable Ad or Rollover Flash ad:
An expandable ad occupies a smaller area (eg: 728x90) and upon a user action (eg: mouse-over, button click) or after a number of seconds, it expands to a larger area (eg: 728x240). Expandable Ad entice an extra level of engagement by inviting a visitor to view more information and interactive content in a larger expanded view.
Floating Ad:
Floating ad, or layer ad, is a special type of ad that flows/slides into the main page using animation. The user can click on a Close button to make it disappear. These ads command attention with an ad that is superimposed over a visitor-requested web page.

CPM: Cost per thousand. In online advertising, CPM refers to cost per thousand impressions. Ex: $20 CPM for a Leaderboard ad.
Frequency capping: Limiting the number of times an online display ad will be served on a website to a unique visitor in a specified period of time. Ex: 3 views/24 hrs means that a unique visitor will be shown the ad no more than 3 times every 24 hours.
Geotargeting: A method of determining the geolocation of a website visitor and delivering different content to that visitor based on their location, such as country, province, city, postal code, organization, IP address, ISP or other criteria.
Hit: The retrieval of any item, like a webpage or a graphic, from a web server. For example, when a visitor calls up a webpage with 4 graphics it is counted as 5 hits: 1 for the page and 4 for the graphics. For this reason, pageviews are used instead of hits when referring to web traffic.
Impression (page impression): An instance when an online display ad, such as a Leaderboard or Big Box, is served on a webpage for viewing.
Max file size: The maximum allowable file size for online display ad artwork, whether static or animated. Ads with video and complex graphics may not fit within the max file size, such as 40kb, and are often designed in a smaller shell that downloads additional components as needed or once the webpage has loaded.
Pageview: An instance when a webpage is downloaded in a web browser for viewing.
Unique visitor: When tracking the amount of traffic on a website, it refers to a person who visits a website more than once within a specified period of time. Unique visitors are measured according to their unique IP addresses or tracking cookies, which are like online fingerprints, and are counted only once no matter how many times they visit the site. Typically UMVs or Unique Monthly Visitors are used when referring to the number of visitors to a website.
Visit/Session: When tracking the amount of traffic on a website, a visit/session is a period of time when a unique visitor uses a website. The visit/session begins when the visitor first accesses the website and ends when the visitor leaves the website.
